Success is something you celebrate, something you cherish. And that is what I intend to do with a fellow student tonight as she revels in the glory of landing an incredible internship for next summer - she’ll be enrolled in an HR leadership program at Johnson & Johnson.
It’s getting to be that time - the job search for our graduating 2nd-years and the all-important internship search for our 1st-years. Your MBA is a time to explore, to search out opportunities that have escaped you in the past. Our friend at Johnson & Johnson utilized a number of resources at Boston College - our Career Strategies office, Alumni advisers and peer connections - to land a great internship. Peer connections, you ask? Your classmates are sometimes your best resource when exploring internship/job opportunities. Boston College MBAs seem to have a knack for helping each other out. I’ve had great informational interviews at three separate consultant groups and two global technology companies because I have been referred by either alumni or fellow classmates. We don’t just rely on ourselves and our past lives to connect to opportunities - we have an entire BC family to lean on.
Oh…sorry…you want me to name some companies so that you can see if the career paths of BC MBAs fit your particular goals?…let’s see - IBM, Booz Allen Hamilton, J&J (you knew that one already), Monitor Group, Capital H Group, Target, Cisco, Apple, Hasbro, EMC, State Street, Fidelity, Raytheon, Sony…should I continue? You’ve probably heard that “the internship/job search depends on how much work you’re willing to put into it.” This is very true. But Boston College just happens to have a lot of the resources you need to make connecting to your dream job a lot easier.
We’ll be celebrating my internship very soon…stay tuned.
